Boróka Piros

The use of a wide variety of materials plays an important role in Boróka Piros’s works. She consciously chooses materials such as markers, pencils, silicone, gel, etc., in order for their tangible substantive qualities and the peculiar characteristics of their surfaces to prevail. Another conspicuous motif that can be found in all her works is her interest in space, whether we mean the drawings depicting various spatial situations, the relations between the transparent frames and colorful balloons, or the floating frames that let the beholder walk around them and see them from different angles. Boróka Piros conceives painting and the thinking about painting in an original, conceptual way, which, considering her work is apparently possible not only through series manufacturing of canvas and board paintings. Her works are visually exciting and gleeful and they are remarkable even when setting aside the conceptual meanings behind the surfaces.
